The skull that became Neura’s head was a gift from collectors in Austin. So I decided to build Neura as a throwback to the first sculpture I ever sold, whose name was Rua. The blue accents on red feathers were reminiscent of neurons firing in the brain. While Neura, phonetically sounded like smashing the words new Rua together. So the title Neura seemed like a natural fit.
